All Sprint Smartphone Will Have Wi-Fi Now
What started out as a nice but relatively uninteresting announcement about Wi-Fi coming to the BlackBerry Tour by next year suddenly became a lot more interesting today. Jeff Clemow, Sprint's director of business product marketing, told Fierce Wireless that all major major devices to be sold by Sprint from here on out will include Wi-Fi capability.
That's a pretty strong demand for smartphone manufacturers that have been neglecting to include Wi-Fi in their phones (including the BlackBerry Tour which will go on sale Sunday without Wi-Fi). But we applaud Sprint because Wi-Fi enabled smartphones really should be a given by now in the phone market. Let's hope this ultimatum by Sprint will help push manufacturers to include a technology that should have been there years ago.
