Note: In late summer of 2008, Qwest contracted with Verizon Wireless to handle all of their cellular contracts and no longer offers their own cellular service.

Qwest Wireless service is prominent on the East and West coasts, and in the Midwest. Throughout the Rocky Mountain states, their cell phone coverage becomes a little sparse, but you’ll still have reception in most major cities.

All plans include free nights and weekends starting at 9:00 p.m. Qwest’s hottest deals are 500 anytime minutes for $39.99, and 1000 anytime minutes for $59.99. These plans also include free mobile-to-mobile, domestic long distance, voicemail, caller ID and three-way calling. They charge a $35 activation fee, and a $200 cancellation fee for the one-year contract.

Qwest does provide nationwide service covering over 99% of the 200 largest cities in America. Plan options, features and cost are not as good as those of larger cell phone providers. Check out their coverage map here.
